The Chinese believe there is a Year Of The Rooster. It is called "the year of the dragon." In this Chinese lunar year, every Chinese citizen is allowed to wear the dragon robe (traditional green in color) and fly around on the back of a powerful eagle. Every March, this ancient custom is held again as the annualowl comes before the start of another Chinese year. This time is also the time of the Full Moon celebration.
There are several reasons why the Chinese regard the rooster as a symbol of fortune and good fortune. One is because the Chinese believe that every living thing has a cycle. The life cycle of a rooster can tell an individual when he is about to achieve something big in his life. The last two lines of the bird's life, called the eggshells, represent the complete life cycle. Thus, when the roosters appear at the beginning of spring it represents a new beginning.
Another reason for the prevalence of the rooster symbol in China is that during the years of prosperity the bird always appears right before the new Chinese year begins. The rooster is thought to foretell what the year holds for people. For instance, in late winter the rooster will be sitting on a pile of presents awaiting its turn at the door. This same time, in late winter, the rooster will be sitting under a pile of gifts waiting to be opened.
A Year of the Rooster
Because the rooster is associated with good fortune, especially for people born in the Springtime, many children love to have a rooster as a pet. It is not uncommon to see young boys with roosters as part of their Halloween costumes. Of course, there are the adult men and women who keep these roosters as pets. And yes, there are definitely those who own roosters that serve as representatives for businesses or organizations as well.
There are all kinds of different varieties of roosters from the common red rooster to the blue rooster and even the black rooster. There are even some that come in the shape of a chicken. Some of the most popular of the roosters are the happy roosters which usually have chirps and squeals and a loud clucking sound every year.

They come in different thickness as well. The thickness is usually dependent upon how many roosters will be placed inside of the structure. They are also very common at Chinese weddings and other events. They are also found in other places around the world, such as the United States.
